It has been a while since I posted here. There have been many developments in all sorts of ways.
One of the things I have created is an SSDP Library for BlackBerry. This allows the BlackBerry to automatically discover network devices, such as Sonos Zones, on the Wifi network,so the user no longer needs to type in (and get wrong) the IP address of a Zone Player to get started. It also means that Tiggit Controller will continue to work if IP addresses change.
I have also been working on a whole list of new features for Tiggit Controller, along with a complete overhaul of the user interface. There is still quite a lot to do for that project, as it includes things like Sirius and Napster support, and it is not yet ready for release.
Yesterday I decided that I would back-port the SSDP Discovery code to the current ‘latest’ version so that users can benefit from the much easier set up.
Version 1.1.5 is now released and is available by pointing your BlackBerry browser to http://www.tiggit.com/sonos
The UI is still not so pretty, and the discovery bit looks a little clunky, but I felt better to get it out there than worry about final UI polish for now.
There is one other new feature: you can now use the volume buttons on the side of the BlackBerry to control the volume on the currently active zone. There remains a number of issues around volume control when zones are linked, but that has been fixed in version 1.2.
Hopefully I will be posting on this topic more again soon.
